I am working in CA on Constitutional and Conservative issues including how independents and disenfranchised Democrats are doing. I have heard that some independents feel our Party is not living up to the 2008 Platforms. I came here to review the Platform, but can't find it or a search box. I love the website and the open-venue of topics. We need to maintain our Bylaws and Platform though! Hope I'm wrong and just didn't look far enough! Thank you, a Proud Republican Activist, Cathy

Reply Text Box Completely Broken

I am both reading of and learning of increasing complaints about "text boxes" being brokenhere at the GOP. I have verified programmers here have changed programming which hasrendered text boxes useless.Symptoms are about a half inch high area to enter text, only one line of text displays and thereare no scroll bars on the side. I verified this by testing with Mozilla Firefox and MSIE. Both browserare both up-to-date, latest updates installed. This is further verified by participants commenting onsuffering the same problem.I hope the GOP will fix this issue within a few days rather than the usual few months. Typing intext is now virtually impossible with no ability to scroll through entered text other than using up anddown arrows on a keyboard. This is a really annoying problem and evidences programmers here areamateurs and have not enough sense to verify their programming actually works right.Taha

Site works in IE7, cannot access in FireFox. In FF 2nd level links work (such as http://action.gop.com/c.ouITL8MRJrE/b.5452897/k.A390/Contact_the_Media/siteapps/advocacy/media.aspx). Frustrating, would otherwise link to site from several of my client sites.

95% of the time I try to send one of my friends a message or try to hit the "request as friend" button, a popup comes up saying to refresh my page and try again. It's somewhat annoying!

Short Profile Fields

I noticed there seems only room enough on a profile to write 80 characters. This does not seem nearly enough. As long as there's blogs, I see no reason for so low a limit. 200, 300, I could understand, but 80? That's more like a headline than a profile description. It also results in a lot of extra space in the middle area which is just used for showing recent actions, and makes the profile look un-filled in.

Poll questions cut off

Whenever someone tries to make a poll, it cuts off the question asked after about 20 characters or so. Therefore, people can't really make polls unless they make sure to put the poll question in the subject of the thread's first post as well.While not a major site flaw, is one that needs to be looked at eventually.

Wide Forum Display

This isn't an error so much as a display issue. It isn't as viewer-friendly with that wide forum display for each thread, since you have to scroll left and right to see the page. Or maybe it's just because of my display settings, but many forums will adjust for this automatically. Anyway, just mentioning it.

Faith & Values Section Not Updating

Post Deletions and Late Editing

One thing I noticed is the site allows you to edit or delete posts seemingly even after someone else has replied to them. This is a HUGE mistake in the site. Allowing this allows people to delete posts all over the place messing up the flow of topics and removing stuff they said.Even worse, I recently deleted a post that had been replied to, since I had mistakenly double-posted it somehow (probably another site flaw) and it deleted the reply someone else had made to that post! This is going to prove a HUGE issue very fast if not fixed.The ability to edit past posts should be turned off probably after later posts have been made, and most definitely after replies to it have been made.

Changing Personal Information

I can't figure out how to change the personal information I entered upon startup. I want to change my phone # for one thing, I originally entered a land line accessible to others and now want to enter my cell phone #, but can't determine the process. Also, I noticed the 'My Stuff' option only appears in the 'Our Gov' dropdown menu when you are in the forums, and not elsewhere on the site. I am not sure if this is a bug or intentional.Finally, the forums are not particularly visible, either via the menus or the front page, but I expect they will quickly attract some of the most attention on the site. Just an observation. If my observation starts proving correct, you may wish to change the site accordingly.

Option Suggestions

Just 2 basic options to suggest:1. An Ignore feature. As more people come to the site, some may spam and get past the filter, or else be technically within the rules but annoying enough to bother many of the users (I'd imagine some will find my controversial views that way). This would allow people to enjoy the site without worrying about the posts of users that bother them.2. Thread posts. An account option to show 10, 20, 30, or 50 posts on a page would allow easier browsing when reading threads, so that rather than having to scroll through numerous pages, you could read what would otherwise have been multiple pages, all at one time.

No bullets or tables

Bullets especially are an important feature, but don't work, even when the li tag is used manually. I suppose the only BBCode which works on the forum is that shown when clicking the IFCode button. The inability to make tables or spreadsheets in forum posts is not as major an issue but still could prove an occasional problem, especially for those wishing to post more technical or statistical data.

Editing Issues

When going to edit a post, it puts multiple empty lines between each paragraph. You probably have a weird p or br tag placed where it shouldn't be in the edit section that is resulting in this very obvious and very annoying flaw.

Hyperlinks Not Showing

Maybe it is because I am using Firefox, but when creating a hyperlink, it shows it the same as the rest of the text, rather than underlined and bolded as is typically web format style. I have had to put in the tags to bold and underline all hyperlinks myself every time I've made a hyperlink, so that others can tell when I am using a hyperlink.

Discussions page is not updating

The Discussions page, which is supposed to provide the latest blog posts - http://our.gop.com/community/latestposts.htm, does not seem to be updating with the latest information. Attached is a screenshot of the page, as seen on Monday, 11/09/09 at about 9:45 AM PST. Furthermore, the latest posts shown are displaying some very odd behavior, concerning the date when they were posted.

Problem with my signature

I am having trouble adding hyperlinked linked banners to my signature. I've tried several different banners and every time I get sent to a page that says:Server Error403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.I was able to add a text-only signature, but whenever I try a hyperlinked banner I get the aforementioned error.

Can't comment on front page right side story blurbs

Hey Guys,On the front page you always have short blurbs under the "Voices of Reason" banner. There does not appear to be a way to comment on them even though each one says "0 comments" below it (as if you could comment). I suggest you either a) make the stories commentable or b) remove the "0 comments" tag to keep folks from thinking they can comment on them.

Before I was able to click on my screen name which popped up a little box. There was then an option along the lines of "see all posts by this member." This was a nice feature because I could easily find threads I posted in. Having this feature back would be appreciated.

Firefox 3.0.14 posting issue

Right now, I'm typing within a white bar at the top of the text box. Underneath it, most of the text box is grayed out and text does not appear in it when I type. Instead, it disappeared upward so that I only see one line at a time. This makes it very difficult to post!

Problem when replies

In the "message" section I only see one white line. The rest of the box is blue. I can only type in the white section and can only see one whole line at a time with a fraction of another line. It wasn't like this the other day which makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the forum or if there is something I need to change in my settings.

Sessions Between GOP.com and Our.GOP.com

I haven't really messed much with sessions myself, but I've noticed that when I log in to GOP.com, I stay logged in across both that, and the Our.GOP.com subdomain. When I close the browser out and come back to GOP.com, it shows me as not being logged in and I can't access My Stuff from the Our GOP tab at the top. However, I can then click on the Our GOP link itself, and I am logged in to the subdomain, but not the main domain. I haven't done any testing of being logged in, then logged out on either or for more advanced info to give you, but I thought I'd point out that it's a bit wacky.Sorry for pointing out flaws and what-not, but I know this is in BETA, so I figure you'd like some input on some of these things.

Twitter Feeds on the Profiles

I think it may be necessary to have the Twitter feeds that people have load last on the page, or at least after everything else in their profile is visible. When Twitter doesn't respond back properly, the page just hangs there and doesn't display anything.
